Tree blocks Smith Street Sunday

The eccentric weather  Islanders have witnessed for the past week — snow, brilliant sunshine, freezing temperatures,  gale force winds, sometimes all within just a few hours, brought some damage Sunday.

Strong gusty winds brought down a tree on Smith Street Sunday, blocking traffic for about two hours until the Shelter Island Highway Department cleared the road.
