The Shelter Island PTSA hosted an all-ages back-to-school barbecue on Friday, Sept. 13, at the school playground. It featured music, burgers, hot dogs, a raffle, handprint murals, pie throwing, games and more. Guests brought sides and sweets to share.

Pierce Senken is on an adventure of a lifetime. A 3rd Year Midshipman at the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, Pierce is the son of Gregory and Jane Senken of Shelter Island and Garden City.

Frank Milano will speak about his time in Zaire as a teacher in the Peace Corps.
“It was the most rewarding time of my life and I wouldn’t trade it for anything,” says Frank Milano about his 1984-1986 Peace Corps experience in Zaire, a time when the country was host to between 65 to 70 Peace Corps volunteers. Zaire is now the Democratic Republic of Congo.
