JULIE LANE PHOTO Superintendent Christine Finn, Board of Education President Thomas Graffagnino and Business Official Idowu Ogundipe after voters passed Shelter Island’s $11.7 million budget for the 2018-19 school year.

As expected,  the Shelter Island School District $11.7 million budget passed comfortably Tuesday night. The vote was 192 in favor and 93 opposed.

Incumbent Board of Education member Kathleen Lynch, running unopposed,  was re-elected to a second three-year term, garnering 231 votes. (more…)

When Margaret Colligan heard that only one candidate had filed a petition for election to the Board of Education and a second seat could be filled by anyone who got the most write-in votes on the May 15 ballot, she threw her hat in the ring. (more…)
