Livin’ for the weekend: BBQ, concerts and more
There’s still plenty of summer left, and some of the Island’s most popular events.
The annual American Legion Post 281 Barbecue Cookoff will draw competitors and hungry Islanders to the grounds of the Community Center on Saturday, Sept. 5 at 4 p.m. Only 300 tickets will be sold, offering a taste of each team’s barbecue, sides and water for $55.
Shelter Island Friends of Music hosts The Balourdet Quartet in its next free concert at the Presbyterian Church at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 6.
James Marshall’s free concert on Friday, Sept. 4 at the Presbyterian Church at 5:30 p.m. will combine the talents of Mr. Marshall and other gifted musicians with movies for innovative arrangements.
On Wednesday, Sept. 9, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., all are invited to learn about CAST at the 1901 Grill at Goat Hill. Call 631-749-5466 for reservations to dine and learn how CAST helps our Island community. No admission charge, come enjoy games, voluntary donations are welcome.
