Shelter Island Police make two arrests this week
On Sept. 6, at 11:50 p.m., Laura V. Ortiz Lozano, 29, of the Bronx was arrested for driving while intoxicated — 1st offense; imprudent speed; moving from lane unsafely and unregistered motor vehicle after the vehicle struck a utility pole, a parked vehicle and split rail fence.
After being transported by Shelter Island EMS to Eastern Long Island Hospital for treatment of injuries, she was released on a desk appearance ticket directing her to appear in court on a later date.
On Sept. 7, at 12:54 a.m., Alexsandr Rogojin, 30, of Rego Park was arrested for driving while ability impaired and failure to obey a police officer, after the driver entered the scene of an accident and initially failed to heed sirens and lights to stop.
After processing at police headquarters, he was released on a desk appearance ticket.
