A Shelter Island tradition in miniature
This year’s Garden Club of Shelter Island ornament celebrates two places at the heart of Island life — our two working firehouses, enduring symbols of the volunteers who help keep our community safe.
Beautifully rendered as a keepsake, the ornament is also a reminder of what makes Shelter Island special, which is neighbors serving neighbors and traditions passed from one generation to the next.
The annual ornament sale supports the Garden Club’s work throughout the year. Proceeds help fund plantings in the rotaries and other public spaces around town, along with educational workshops and programs for all ages and community activities that encourage an appreciation for gardening, conservation, and the natural beauty surrounding us.
Much of the Garden Club’s presence is woven into the beauty of everyday Island life. By purchasing this year’s ornament, Islanders can celebrate our firehouses while helping the Garden Club continue caring for the community we all love.
