To the great relief of music-starved Islanders, the Shelter Island Friends of Music will commence its 2019 Season on Sunday, February 17 at 3 p.m., at the Presbyterian Church.

If it’s summer (or close to it) it must be time for the return of the Perlman Music Program’s (PMP) young musicians to Shelter Island. The PMP season begins Friday, June 1 at 7:30 p.m. when the Chamber Music Workshop kicks off its 15th year with a “Musical Soiree from the Age of Enlightenment,” featuring 46 young participants ages 18 to 30 performing chamber music for strings and piano by Haydn and Mozart. A WEEKEND OF MUSIC

This Labor Day weekend, Perlman Music Program hosts two musical events in the Clark Arts Center as part of its Stires-Stark Alumni Recital Series. On Friday, September 1 at 7:30 p.m., pianist Weiyin Chen performs a solo recital of Brahms, Schubert, and Schumann. (more…)
