Teaching by example is perhaps the best method to get lessons to sink into young hearts and minds.
The Shelter Island Lions Club does that in many ways, with its most recent venture to encourage school youngsters to give back the induction of a “Leo Club,” the student affiliate of the Lions Clubs. (more…)

On July 20, Shelter Island Bucks first baseman Alex Volpi hit his 14th home run of the Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League (HCBL) season, breaking the league’s single-season record. But he wasn’t finished. The next day, Volpi set the HCBL career home run record with his 15th homer of the season. (more…)
