Shelter Island’s boys varsity basketball team returns six players from last year’s team, including three seniors who started, namely Lucas Quigley-Dunning, who earned All-Conference and All-League honors, as well as All-League players Walter Richards and Dan Martin.  These three seniors will serve as Tri-Captains for this year’s team. The varsity volleyball team ended the regular league competition at 5-7, our best finish since 2015. In contrast, we had won a total of six league matches in the previous three seasons. That effort has been rewarded by being designated the Section XI/Suffolk County Class D champions. In order to get that honor we had to play well in our final two matches. (more…)

When Shelter Island volleyball teams play, two things can be counted on — they will play all out, and the other coach will make a comment on what nice kids they are and/or how much they hustle. Both were true for the Greenport/Southold matches on Oct. 17 and also at the Pierson tournament on Oct. 19. (more…)

On Saturday, Sept. 21, Shelter Island volleyball got up early to take part in the Bayport Blue Point varsity tournament. Eleven players boarded an early ferry, admired the sunrise, and set their sights on playing well, having fun and working hard.
