Ann McGayhey

Ann Franzoni McGayhey passed away on September 26, 2010 at the age of 48. She was living in Suwanee, Georgia with her husband Sherman.

Ann was born December 2, 1961 in San Antonio, Texas. She was a graduate of Shelter Island High School and Gwinnett Community College, and was also a student at Emory University.

Ann spent her summers on Shelter Island as a young girl staying at the Off Shore Club and the Chequit Inn, which were owned by her grandparents, Carletto and Mary Franzoni. She became a full time resident when her father Phil Franzoni took over running the Chequit. She and her twin sister Fran graduated from Shelter Island High School in 1980.

Ann was an entrepreneur and enjoyed trying her hand at many ventures including a health food store on Shelter Island; a new southern cuisine restaurant in Buford, Georgia; breeding, training, showing and selling dressage horses; and raising and selling Great Danes, to name a few of her favorite endeavors.

Her family said that Ann will be remembered as an amazing wife, mother, sister and friend who saw the good in everyone and was quick to lend a hand, a meal or a room in her house to someone trying to make their life better.

She is survived by her husband, Sherman McGayhey; daughter Elizabeth Ann Lechmanski; sons, Jeffrey Allen Franzoni and Phillip James Lechmanski; father, Philip Franzoni; mother, Nancy Martin; sisters, Mary Lou Franzoni, Frances Franzoni, Leah Phillips, Katherine Franzoni, Caroline Franzoni and Connie Franzoni; brothers P.J. Franzoni, Mark Franzoni, Charles Franzoni, Philip C. Franzoni, Jr. and Philip A. Franzoni.
