Town issues cybersecurity alert: Suspicious activity on police network

An alert from Supervisor Amber Brach-Williams Wednesday morning reported that the Town’s Information Technology Department has detected suspicious cybersecurity activity affecting the Police Department’s network.

The Town’s IT staff is working with its cybersecurity vendor and has immediately implemented protective measures and initiated an investigation.

There is no evidence Town systems or data were compromised, and no indication that Town information was accessed, altered or removed, the notice said. The investigation remains ongoing as the Town continues to review the incident and implement additional security enhancements.

“The Town takes the security of its information systems seriously and remains committed to protecting its technology infrastructure through continuous monitoring and ongoing cybersecurity improvements,” Ms. Brach-Williams said.
