Only Chuck Kraus identified last week’s photo (see below), although Never-Say-Die Roger McKeon made a good effort but came up short. The bench is at the 5th hole of the Shelter Island Country Club’s course with a view over New York Avenue and Chase Creek.

A plaque on the bench reads: “Have a Lovely Day Golfing on Shelter Island. In Loving Memory of Charlie, Cecelia and Evan Kraus.”
Chuck wrote that “the bench was our donation to the Shelter Island Country Club in memory of my parents Charlie and Cecelia Kraus and my nephew Evan Kraus.
We asked Gina Kraus for some more info: “Charlie and Ceil loved playing Goat Hill and when my father-in-law passed away, a bench in his memory was placed at the 5th Green. In 2020, after Ceil passed away, the bench needed replacement. Chuck, Steven and Ken purchased a new bench and added Evan’s name. This year, Ariel Gardner spruced it up with a good power washing, so it looks brand new.”
