Museum calls for helping hands: Evening hours announced

The Shelter Island History Museum is looking for volunteers for a cleanup project on Saturday, Oct. 3. The contents of the main floor of the barn needs to be sorted and carried to piles for either storage or disposal. Some items are heavy, some are light, so there’s something for everyone to carry.

Helpers are asked to meet in front of the barn on the Museum grounds at 9:30 a.m. for the project, which will last until noon, and refreshments will be provided.

The Museum has also announced an extension of its hours, in order to accommodate visitors’ schedules. On the second and fourth Wednesday of each month, the hours will be 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. For October, those dates will be Oct. 14 and 28. The other days are Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
