Storm report: All roads passable at 4 p.m. — 23 Islanders without power

At 4 p.m. Saturday, Highway Superintendent Ken Lewis Jr. said all roads on Shelter Island are passable. “Low tide is around 5 so the water is receding,” Mr. Lewis reported.

As we have reported, several trees have come down onto utility wires. PSEG reported there were power outages on the Island at 4:10 p.m., affecting 23 customers.

Now it’s wait and see. “The next high tide is expected around 11 p.m., and the full moon could significantly raise tide levels,” Mr.Lewis said, adding, “It’s fingers crossed.”
