Happenings at the Shelter Island Library in November
Construction Update
Permanent power was installed right before the Nor’easter (thank you, PSEG) so the Renu crew is able to proceed with important interior work, including the beautiful ceiling in the main reading room which is designed to evoke the hull of a boat, the final installation of the elevator and the laying down of flooring and carpeting. Outside pavers have been laid on the patios and it’s possible to envision what terrific outdoor space we will have. We’re looking forward to finishing the cupola and placing the majestic weathervane. “Hard hat” tours are still available so just check in with Terry Lucas to see about getting an after-hours walk-through of the site. (Closed-toe shoes, please.) We hope you’ll love it.
The Turkey Plunge Returns
The annual Turkey Plunge, sponsored by Friends of the Library, will take place on Saturday, Nov. 28 at 11 a.m. at Crescent Beach. It’s not too early to start thinking about your costume.
