Viewfinder: Hiking the Katherine Ordway Wildlife Refuge

Twenty hikers braved the windy weather last month to explore the normally off-limits wildlife refuge in Mashomack Preserve. In this photo, the Lindemanns (left), the Biegers and Wade Badger are dwarfed by the root ball of a white oak toppled by Tropical Storm Irene last August.
