Bond to purchase fire truck needs voter approval: Polls open at 6 p.m. today

Island voters will get their say tonight on a proposed bond not to exceed $415,000 to help finance the purchase of a new fire truck and attendant cost of the borrowing. 

The full cost of the purchase with the bond is not to exceed $815,000 with the $400,000 balance coming from the fire district’s equipment reserve fund. Passage of the bond will automatically trigger approval to spend the $400,000.

Voting takes place between 6 and 9 p.m. tonight at the Center firehouse with the end time to be extended if there are still people waiting to cast their ballots.
