Shelter Island Reporter Letters to the Editor: Nov. 2, 2026

VOTE

To the Editor:

Long Islanders are now able to vote in person for the midterms. Everyone should take advantage of their right to vote by voting now.

Voting this year should be very easy.  If you like President Trump and what he has done and what he promises to do, you should vote for all the Republicans who have supported him and will continue to do so.

If you do not like President Trump and what he has done and what he promises to do, you should vote for Democrats who will not support President Trump and what he promises to do.

But vote!

YOUTH MEETS AGE

To the Editor:

To all Island senior citizens: We are a class of 13 students from Hayground School in Bridgehampton wondering if you can help us with a project. This year we are studying the stories attached to meaningful objects, and we thought that you might have an heirloom, or object that is special to you and tells a fantastic story.

We are planning to visit the Shelter Island Senior Center on Thursday, Nov. 5 at 11:30 a.m., to hear your stories. If you have a meaningful object or a photo of it, we would love to see that as well. We hope this can be a fun day for everyone, and we look forward to listening to your stories.
