Year-round residents make an appearance

Our friend Don Bindler took this shot of  horned owls in Silver Beach Wednesday.

Don wrote: “Majestic and secretive great horned owls are year-round Island residents.

“At this time of year they can be heard at dusk ‘hooting’ in many areas of the Island. They will be mating and nesting in the weeks ahead, even before the winter is over.”
