One of the great sights of a winter wetland is the Great Blue Heron, like the one above, in hunting mode, standing frozen in anticipation of a meal off Coecles Harbor.

Great Blues are the largest of American herons, and even though they may seem to move slowly, when they strike for a fish, it’s all over (for the fish) in a flash.
