A different perspective
To the Editor:
I completed my first marathon (NYC) this past weekend at age 61.

I have a summer home on Shelter Island and our beautiful land was the setting for my training runs. From July 1 until marathon day, Nov. 3, I ran over 500 miles with many of these miles taking place during July and August on Shelter Island. (more…)

Easily forgotten
To the Editor:
I am writing to remind your readers of the reason we had to pass a law restricting short-term rentals.

We easily forget that commercialism has endangered our neighborhoods. On Shelter Island we pride ourselves on how supportive and caring our neighbors are, especially in times of need. (more…)

Library tennis tournament
To the Editor:
The Shelter Island Library Tennis Tournament, originally started in the 1990s by the Jerry Berner family, returned for the second year in a row last Saturday.

I want to thank the people whose hard work brought about this fun event that also raised funds for the library. (more…)
