Mr. and Mrs. Claus lit up the night on Wednesday.

Temperatures hovered in the 20s on Wednesday night when Islanders huddled together at Police Headquarters for the annual lighting of the Town Christmas Tree. Thanks to a steady program of music and the spirit of joy for the season, no one seemed concerned about the cool air.

The Shelter Island Historical Society hosted its Havens Holiday Open House, Art Show and Santa’s Workshop on Sunday.

Guests had an opportunity to have a  photo taken with Santa and Ms. Claus and enjoyed  craft making. STARs Cafe provided refreshments and hot chocolate. Admission was free, and unwrapped toys for children in need were collected. See below for more of Eleanor’s photos of the happy day. (more…)
