Island runners meeting the challenge

BY ERIN BASKIN — COACH

We have a very competitive cross country team this season made up of three boys and two girls.

We’re lucky to have four returning athletes who bring a lot of experience and dedication to the team, competing in meets, racing at East Hampton and twice at Pierson.

Each race our times have steadily decreased and our enthusiasm has increased. I’m proud of our athletes for being consistent and taking head-on the challenges of hard workouts. Below I have listed our athletes, their grade and best time of the season.

• Henry Springer (12th) — 18’56” (3 mile race at Pierson)

• Eli Green (11th) — 17’25 (at East Hampton)

• Lily Potter (11th) — 28’45 (3 mile race at Pierson)

• Amara Cajamarca-Goodale (9th) — 22’18” (3 mile race at Pierson)

• Caleb Springer (8th) — 20’30” (3 mile race at Pierson)
