“Sugar, Sugar,” written by Jeff Barry and Andy Kim and originally recorded by the virtual band the Archies, reached number one in the United States on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and remained there for four weeks.

Brothers Joe and John Wallace took the Shelter Island Country Club (SICC) at Goat Hill’s Tailgate Tourney into the end zone Sunday with a team score of 36.

Close behind, but no cigar, were Ian Weslek and Bruce Taplin, who finished second with a 37. Weslek also won closest to the pin on No. 5. He was the only golfer in the field to land the green. (more…)

Global warming is producing atom bomb versions of hurricanes.

That was the case with Hurricane Dorian and other Category 5 (winds at 157 miles per hour or higher, which is the most destructive level) and Category 4 hurricanes (winds of 130 to 156 miles per hour) that have been developing with frequency in recent years. (more…)
