Fire Commissioners get unanimous go-ahead for bond

The Shelter Island Fire District racked up a 25-0 election victory Tuesday night on a proposed bond to cover part of the cost of new fire truck.

The maximum cost of the new vehicle is $675,000 and $200,000 of that is already set aside in an existing Fire District Equipment Reserve Fund. Commissioners will issue serial bonds not to exceed the $475,000 balance.
